  JnU`s first year students get scholarship

Meherabul Islam Showdip, JnU: Scholarships will be provided for students studying in the first year of graduation at JagannathUniversity (JnU). Students of the 2019-20 academic year are invited to apply online for the scholarships in the two categories of merit and unpaid.

JagannathUniversity`s Registrar Engineer Md. Ohiduzzaman confirmed the matter on Sunday. A notification has also been issued in this regard, he said.

The Registrar said that online application is being invited for providing scholarships and unpaid studies for one academic year to the students studying in the first year of graduation (honours)/equivalent in the academic year 2019-20.

In this context after logging in to the student login panel (student.erp.jnu.ac) one can apply by clicking on the `Apply for scholarship` link on the right. The concerned students have to submit the application by filling in the correct information of the students from 14 april to 12 may.

Then the concerned department will enter the prescribed link and download the application form of the students and send it to the office of the Controller of Examinations with the recommendation in the second part by May 24, 2021 as per the rules. The third part of the application form will be properly verified and the comments will be sent to the Registrar`s Office by June 3, 2021.

He further said that, according to the `Scholarship Policy-2013` only for the academic year 2019-2020 graduates (honours) equivalent first year students for one academic year in each department 03 (three) at the rate of Tk. 400/- per month without scholarship opportunity to study at the university will be provided on salary. In addition to merit scholarships, 10% (ten percent) of the students studying in each department in the academic year 2019-2020 are given the opportunity to study at the university without pay. The department has been asked to encourage students with disabilities to apply if they are studying. A student can apply in any one category. Applications will not be accepted after the stipulated time.

It is to be noted that in the 2018-19 academic year, 1,116 students were given merit and unpaid scholarships by the university. Of these, 307 were awarded scholarships and 710 were awarded unpaid scholarships at the undergraduate level and 40 were awarded scholarships and 59 unpaid scholarships at the postgraduate level.
