While inaugurating the free text book distribution program at her official residence Ganabhaban on Tuesday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that her government aims to ensure modern and ICT based education for the country`s children.
Modern day education is aided with a variety of technology, computers, projectors, internet, and many more. Diverse knowledge is spread with the help of technology among students. To cut a long story short, everything that can be simplified is made simpler with all the key components of Modern day education. Additionally, unlike that in the past, there is much to learn and more to assimilate and since the Internet provides abysmal knowledge. There is no end to it. One can learn everything he or she wishes to. Thus, every topic has developed into a subject. However, we are in complete agreement with the PM`s call on the importance of Modern day education.
Our national curriculum suggests that the government has already put enough emphasis on tech based education system turning ICT into a compulsory subject from secondary to higher secondary level. And numerous private and public institutions are enjoying the facility of digital interactive whiteboard in their classrooms. This scenario suggests that the government is committed to realize the ambitious plan to make `Digital Bangladesh` a reality by 2021.
In addition, the government also put emphasis on vocational education since vocational education helps to flourish the latent talent of individual at budding stage. However, in our country majority numbers of parents yet do not have an assertive attitude on attaining vocational education. There is an undermining tendency. But in the age of economic development, vocational training is very important as it helps students to equip with the necessary skills and practical experience.
Nevertheless, we should not be forgetful about the importance of sports and games. A fit body can nurture a healthy mind. Thanks to the PM as she has decided to build one mini stadium in every Upazilla of the country. Needs be mentioned, most of our urban schools, colleges and universities are devoid of playground and open spaces.
We need to prioritize on having more open space and playgrounds in schools particularly at the private schools.
