Equitable distribution of resources is needed to alleviate global hunger
  30-01-2022

Arifa Akhter: The word "hunger" is used to describe the need for food. Food is one of the basic human rights and no organism can survive if this right is violated. According to analysts, Khuda is a position where for a certain period of time a person is unable to meet his basic needs of food and essential nutrients. So in the case of God`s salvation this word is used to meet the basic needs of the common man. The global food crisis is caused by wars, epidemics, disasters, adverse weather, resources, etc. In addition, the ongoing coronavirus epidemic has highlighted the global food crisis. Many countries around the world, including Madagascar, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Yemen, and Nigeria, are going through famine. It is said that most of the world`s people live below the poverty line in Asia, but in 2015, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) reported that famine was highest in Africa and South America. The main reasons for this are economic recession, adverse effects of climate change and internal conflicts.

According to the 2020 World Hunger Index, 79 million people worldwide suffer from malnutrition. According to the height of 14 crore 40 lakh children, their body weight is less. Of these, 85 percent are caused by the coronavirus epidemic. Eighty percent of the victims are women. The definition of a hungry person according to the general concept is that a person is starving. Because he cannot afford to buy food. In general, hunger means lack of food. In other words, the people are hungry for this lack. According to the World Food and Agriculture Organization, the definition of hunger also includes malnutrition. According to this definition, if a person cannot eat a standard food of 1,600 calories per day, then he will be a victim of malnutrition. Children`s lives are at risk due to malnutrition. Because of this they easily fall prey to various diseases. Lack of nutritious food is the main reason for getting sick easily.

Research institutes on food policy believe that it is possible to take initiative by identifying malnutrition in children and identifying its consequences and solutions. The main cause of global hunger is global food and agricultural overproduction. Also lack of knowledge about malnutrition or lack of nutrition, measurement of body weight. Lack of essential food is one of the main causes of hunger which is characterized by unequal distribution of resources with the total population, inequality of income and expenditure, lack of proper knowledge about food and nutrition.

Confederation Oxfam International, comprising 20 charities, released a report at the World Economic Forum Conference 2019. According to the report, the wealth of the 26 richest people is equal to the wealth of the poorest 3.6 billion people. In 2016, these billionaires of the world collectively earned 2.5 billion dollars every day. But half of the world`s poor lose 500 million a day. In other words, the wealth gap between rich and poor is constantly increasing Looking at the report, it is clear why our economy has collapsed Hundreds of thousands of millions of people around the world are living in abject poverty But the pockets of the top rich are getting heavier day by day. As a result, the unequal distribution of wealth over the whole world is going to be deeply noticed. The widening gap between rich and poor is adversely affecting economies and increasing anger among the people and creating unrest in social life.

To ensure equitable distribution of resources, governments must take steps to ensure that all their citizens can live with dignity. Some people are not benefited by the extremely wealthy society and state. With a mere 0.5 percent increase in taxes on the wealth of the rich, the amount of money that can be made available, it is possible to take 260 million children out of school, return them to school, and save the lives of another 3.3 million people through health care. At the same time it is possible to ensure a harmonious environment by solving the global food problem.

In addition to the equitable distribution of resources, food wastage must be strictly prevented. According to the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), 30 percent of the world`s food is wasted, which is enough to meet the food needs of 10 percent of the world`s population. The food crisis can be overcome if the world`s richest people come to the rescue. It will not be difficult to meet the food needs of the people of the whole world, once the donation of one of the very rich people. People in developing countries should also be aware of their food shortages and try to meet their own needs. Not a drop of land should be left around the house. Care should be taken to produce vegetables and fruits. Women and youth need to be empowered and empowered to use new technologies.

Self-reliance is most needed to prevent unequal distribution of resources. When it is possible to create one`s own business, one will not have the opportunity to build another mountain of wealth. There is a lack of efforts by the government to create skilled manpower for the citizens of developing countries. Only the harmony of public and private spheres and skilled people can prevent the culture of unequal distribution of wealth around the world.
