National University (NU) Vice Chancellor Dr Md Mashiur Rahman resigned from his post on Sunday.

The VC submitted his resignation by mail to the Education Secretary in the afternoon, according to the sources of the university.

Later, he joined the Department of Sociology at Dhaka University, the sources added.

On 10 May 2017, Mr Rahman was appointed as Pro-Vice Chancellor of the National University.
He was appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of the National University on 30 May 2021 replacing Harun-or-Rashid.
