A student was killed and two others were injured in a road accident at Shalika village under Sadar upazila of Meherpur on Thursday (yesterday).

The deceased was identified as Dulal Hossain, 15, son of Madan Ali of Ramnagar village of Mujibnagar upazila of the district. He was a 10th grader at Kedarganj Technical School and College of the area.

According to police, the accident occurred in the area when they were going to Mujibnagar upazila from Shalika village riding a motorcyclist. On the way, the bike lost control and hit a road side tree around 11 pm last night, leaving three seriously injured.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Meherpur Sadar Police Station Kani Miah said.

Locals rescued them and took them to Meherpur General Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared Dulal Hossain dead.

The body was handed over to the family members, the OC added.
