A teenage girl was killed in a lightning strike in Cox`s Bazar`s Chakaria on Tuesday.

The accident took place around 5:30 at Koralkhali under Saharbil Union of the upazila.

Deceased Roksana, 17, was the daughter of Zaker Ahmed of that area.

Local UP member Arju Ara Begum said Roksana went to the courtyard of their house in the rain started in the afternoon. At that time, a lightning struck on her. She died on the spot.

Chakaria Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Manjur Quader Bhuiyan confirmed it.
