Two persons, including a child, were killed in lightning strikes at separate places in Char Fasson upazila in Bhola district.

The accident took place on Tuesday afternoon at Paschim Ewajpur village under Ewajpur union of the upazila and Char Fakira village under Hazariganj union of Shashibhushan police station.

The deceased were Shihab, 13, son of Rafizal Majhi of Char Fakira village under Hazariganj Union, and Mosharef Hossain Liton, 35, of Ewajpur Union under Shashibhushan Police Station.

According to locals and police, Liton was feeding grass to cows at his house during the storm in the afternoon. Liton was struck by lightning at that time. He was rescued and taken to hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Meanwhile, at the same time, Shihab took shelter in the boat anchored at Mainuddin Fishing Ghat of Char Fakira village during the storm. At that time, he was injured by lightning. He was rescued and taken to Char Fasson Hospital where he died.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shasibhushan Police Station Tariq Hasan confirmed the news.
