  Worker killed, 2 injured in Bhola boiler explosion

A worker was killed and two other were injured when a boiler exploded at a rice mill at Char Fasson upazila in Bhola on Friday.

The explosion took place early on Friday at around 5:00 AM at Munni Rice Mill in Char Afzal village under ward No. 2 of Char Madraz union.

The deceased was identified as Al-Amin Majhi, 30, son of late Jalil Majhi from the same village. The injured include Al-Amin`s younger brother, Firoz, 25, and Monir Mahajan, 45, the rice mill owner and son of Shahjahan Munshi, also from Char Afzal.

According to eyewitnesses and locals, the boiler was newly constructed just three days ago. It is used daily around 4:00 AM for steaming paddy. On Friday morning, a loud explosion startled the local residents, who rushed to the site to find the workers scattered around, severely injured.

The injured were quickly taken to Char Fasson Upazila Health Complex, where doctors pronounced Al-Amin dead. Firoz was later referred to Dhaka for advanced treatment.

Char Fasson Police Station sub-inspector Siddiqur Rahman, who arrived at the scene, confirmed the explosion and subsequent casualties.

Mizanur Rahman Howlader, OC of the police station, stated that the authorities are investigating the incident and assured that if any negligence is found, appropriate legal action will be taken against those responsible.
