  Man killed in BNP factional clash in Pabna

A former local Matsyajibi Dal leader was killed and several others were injured in a clash between two factions of BNP in Hemayetpur union of Pabna Sadar Upazila on Saturday afternoon over establishing supremacy in the area.

The deceased was Jalal Uddin, 40, son of Sukur Ali of Kazipara of Hemayetpur union, former joint convenor of Jatiyatabadi Matsyajibi Dal.

Locals and police sources said that there had been dispute between BNP leader Abul Hashem and former union parishad chairman Muntaz Ali over taking control in the area after fall of Awami League –led government.


On Friday night the both groups locked into an altercation that led the clash on Saturday.

The injured were rescued and taken to the Pabna General Hospital and later Jalal had been shifted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Officer-in-charge of Pabna Sadar Police Station A Salam said police have visited the area and additional police personnel have been deployed to avert any untoward situation.
