  27 Rohingyas rescued during trafficking to Malaysia

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a joint operation rescued 31 individuals, including 27 Rohingyas and 4 Bangladeshis, who were being trafficked to Malaysia via sea route from Teknaf in Cox`s Bazar.

Two individuals were arrested in connection with the trafficking operation.

The arrested individuals are Mohammad Anwar, 44, from Ward No. 4 of Hnila in Teknaf and Atikur Rahman, 32, from Ward No. 2 of North Lambari in Sadar Union.

The rescue operation took place on Sunday night in the mountainous area of Baharchhara Kachapia in the upazila.

According to the Commander of the Hwaikyong RAB Camp Mohammad Hafizur Rahman confirmed the information.

Hafizur Rahman further said that the rescued Rohingyas would be returned to their respective refugee camps while the Bangladeshis would be handed over to their families.

Legal action has been initiated against the two detained traffickers.
