Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) has decided to re-announce the preliminary examination results of 46th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS).
The decision was confirmed in a press release signed by PSC`s Public Relations Officer, SM Matiur Rahman, on Monday.
The press release reads that the preliminary exam results for the 46th BCS were originally announced on May 9, 2024 where a total of 10,638 candidates were selected for the written examination. However, to ensure fairness and eliminate potential biases, the PSC has decided to include an equal number of additional candidates for the written test and the results will be re-declared accordingly.
The press release also stated that various issues related to the suspected leaking of question papers in the 44th, 45th, and 46th BCS exams, as well as other non-cadre exams, have been thoroughly discussed. To maintain transparency, fairness, and impartiality in the selection process, the commission has taken the following steps:
1. For the 44th BCS, 11,732 candidates passed the written exam and 3,930 candidates had already undergone the viva-voce examination by July 18, 2024. The exams were suspended on August 25, 2024 and the commission resigned on October 8, 2024. To maintain fairness, the previous viva-voce exams taken by the 3,930 candidates have been canceled and now the exams will be held for all 11,732 candidates who passed the written exam. The date for the exams will be announced soon.
2. The evaluation of answer papers for the 45th BCS written exam is currently ongoing, with the second examiner`s evaluation nearing completion. To ensure transparency and fairness, the new commission has decided to send all answer papers to a third examiner for review.
Additionally, the PSC is reviewing the written examination for the Bangladesh Railway`s (Assistant Sub-Engineer) non-cadre position and will make an official decision regarding the exam soon.
