  Barrister Sumon questioned at Chunarughat Police Station

Former member of parliament (MP) of Habiganj-4 constituency Barrister Sayedul Huque Sumon is being questioned in a murder case after bringing him at Chunarughat Police Station.

He was brought at Chunarughat Police Station from Habiganj District Jail on Friday (November 22) morning.

Police said his remand hearing took place at Habiganj Judicial Magistrate Court on Thursday (November 21). After the hearing, magistrate Quamrul Hasan placed him on a two-day remand. Then he was sent to the district jail.

According to the directive of the court, Barrister Sumon was brought at Chunarughat Police Station amid tight security measures. He was questioned there. After questioning, he is likely to be produced before court on Sunday.

Earlier, the investigation officer of the case sub-inspector Liton Roy pleaded to the court to place the accused on a 10-day remand in a case filed over attacking the anti-discrimination movement.

The case was filed on September 11 last against some 200 people including mentioning the names of 97 accused including Syed Sayedul Huq Sumon for attacking the anti-discrimination student movement at Shayestaganj Golchattar Bridge under Chunarughat upazila on July 16 last. Sumon was arrested from Mirpur in the capital on October 22 last. Since then he had been at the Dhaka Central Jail.
