A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a brick-laden trolley at Uzirpur upazila in Barishal on Saturday morning.

The deceased was identified as Ruman Hawlader alias Rupom, 22, son of Md. Mostafa Hawlader and hailed from Dhamshar village in the upazila.

According to family members and locals, Rupom was heading to his workplace in Purano Shikaripur from his home on a motorcycle. The accident occurred near the Dighirpar area when his motorcycle collided head-on with a brick-laden trolley coming from the opposite direction. Rupom died on the spot.

Uzirpur Model Police Station sub-inspector Jyotirmoy Haldar stated that the trolley driver, Yasin, fled the scene immediately after the accident.

As the victim`s family did not file any complaints, police handed over Rupom`s body to his family following necessary procedures.
