BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has said if the holding of next general election is delayed, the conspiracy centering the country will deepen further.
"The autocratic regime which was ousted by the country`s people is not sitting idle. They have been conspiring in connivance with their local and foreign masters. The net of the conspiracy will widen if the next general election is delayed," he said virtually joining the inaugural session of the biennial conference of Chuadanga District BNP on Saturday morning as the chief guest.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir inaugurated the conference at a football ground of the district town.
Tarique also emphasised only the elected representatives would implement the reforms.
"The Chief Adviser to all the people feel the necessity of reforms. These can be implemented if the real representatives of people are elected through an election. Beyond the election, it is absolutely impossible to implement the reforms. So, the country needs an election which will become truly representational," he said.
The reforms proposed by the current government are also aligned with BNP`s vision, he added.
However, the delay in holding the election in the name of reforms may pave the opportunities for the conspirators, he observed.
He further said that resolving the country`s existing crises is possible only through holding a free, fair and credible election.
