A former leader of an extremist group was hacked to death by unidentified miscreants in Pabna`s Santhia upazila on Sunday night.

The deceased was identified as Bakul Islam, 45, son of Rowshan Ali, a resident of Rauti village under Dhopadaha union.

Santhia Police Station OC Saidur Rahman said the attackers confronted Bakul while he was returning home around 9:30PM after delivering paddy on a horse cart to a local Jalal Master.

The attackers hacked him, leaving him dead on the spot, the OC said, adding that the body was sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy.
