BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was hospitalised after falling sick during a visit to the National Memorial in Savar on Victory Day morning, party sources said.
Fakhrul fell ill around 10 am while addressing journalists after paying homage to the martyrs of 1971.
He was promptly taken to the Savar CMH Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.
BNP Standing Committee Member Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain confirmed the incident, adding that Fakhrul is now feeling better.
BNP media cell member Shairul Kabir Khan said standing committee members Professor Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain and Salahuddin Ahmed and BNP joint secretary general Habib-un Nabi Khan Sohel are at the hospital now.
