An individual was killed and another injured in a road crash at Ghoraghat upazila in Dinajpur district early Wednesday.

The incident took place around 4 AM near Koshigari village on the Dinajpur-Gobindaganj regional highway.

The deceased was identified as Ismail, 65, driver of the truck involved in the accidet from Sherpur upazila in Bogura, and the injured is his Babu Mia, 34.

According to witnesses, a rice-laden truck was traveling from Panchagarh to Sherpur. It collided with a stationary stone-laden truck from behind near Koshigari village, leaving Ismail dead on the spot and his helper critically injured. Following the collision, the stone-laden truck fled the scene.

Ghoraghat Police Station officer-in-charge Nazmul Haque confirmed that law enforcement and fire service personnel promptly responded to the scene. The driver`s body has been sent to Ghoraghat Health Complex morgue, while the injured assistant is undergoing treatment in Bogura.

A case under the Road Transport Act is being prepared regarding the incident, added the OC.
