Opener Dilara Dola hit her maiden ton as East Zone posted 316-8 against Central Zone on Day 1 of the second round of Women`s Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) at Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi on Thursday, reports BSS.
Dola became the third female cricketer from Bangladesh to hit a ton in the first class cricket after Nigar Sultana Joty and Farzana Haque Pinky, who both hit centuries in the first round.
Dola who opened the innings eventually was out for 102 off 131, after clobbering 11 fours and two sixes.
Opting to bat first, East Zone lost opener Shompa Akter cheaply but Dola stitched 154-run with Jannatul Ferdous Tithi for the second wicket to help the side set a strong platform.
Soon after the dismissal of Dola, Tithi was also removed for 65. Sharmin Supta and skipper Fahima Khatun then added 70 runs before Nahida Akter got the better of Fahima for 23 to break through.
In the immediate next over, Suborna Kormaker sent back Supta for 62 and East Zone tasted a collapse by losing four more wickets cheaply.
At stumps, Farjana Akter Boby and Suraiya Chanda were batting on 6 and 4 runs respectively. Nahida Akter grabbed 3-64 while Lata Mondol ended with 2-48 for Central Zone.
The day`s other match between North Zone and South Zone remained evenly poised at Bangla Trac Stadium in Rajshahi after Day 1 game.
Put into bat first, North Zone were bowled out for 238 with Misty Rani adding team-high 47.Salma Khatun finished with 3-22 while Sanjida Akter Meghla and Sultana Khatun bagged two wickets apiece.
South Zone ended the day with 51-2 with Shamima Sultana batting on 30 with Rumana Ahmed on 8.
