Central leaders of the newly formed National Citizens Party (NCP) paid tribute to the Liberation War martyrs at the National Memorial in Savar on Tuesday.
The party leaders paid tribute to the martyrs by placing wreaths at around 8AM.
This is marked the party`s first formal activity since its formation on February 28.
After placing wreath, they stood in solemn silence there for some time as a mark of profound respect to the memories of the martyrs of the 1971 War of Liberation.
NCP Convener Nahid Islam said to media, "We will build a new Bangladesh by embracing the aspirations of all the struggles, including the 2024 mass uprising. Though we got an independent state through the liberation war, our sovereignty is under threat due to fascism. we need to build a democratic constitution as our democratic institutions have repeatedly broken down."
"In the future, the youth will form the state and the organisational activities of the NCP will be expanded."
Nahid Islam demanded the immediate implementation of the July Accord and the July Declaration through national dialogue.
Later, the members of the party went to Rayerbazar to visit the graves of the students and people who were martyred during the uprising.
