  10-03-2025

A Dhaka court on Monday rejected bail petitions of Former State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, in a corruption and money laundering case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The decision was made by Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge M Zakir Hossain Galib during a hearing.

The ACC filed the case on December 12, 2024, accusing Palak of amassing Tk 8.73 crore in illegal assets and conducting suspicious transactions of Tk 32.05 crore across 25 bank accounts. He allegedly withdrew Tk 29.84 crore through illicit means, constituting money laundering and bribery.

Palak was arrested by the Detective Branch (DB) police on August 14, 2024, from a hideout in Dhaka’s Nikunja residential area. Since then, he has been placed under multiple remands for questioning in various cases. He is currently detained at Kashimpur Central Jail in Gazipur.
