A mobile court has sentenced to seven days of imprisonment to a local Jubo Dal leader over allegedly assaulting a municipal vehicle driver at Kalapara upazila in Patuakhali district.

The mobile court led by Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner (Land) Yasin Sadeq issued the sentence.

The convicted is Mohammad Forkan Talukdar, 53. He is a joint convener of Kalapara Municipal unit Jubo Dal.

Executive Magistrate Mohammad Yasin Sadeq said that Forkan Talukdar stopped a moving municipal vehicle, dragged the driver out, and assaulted him.

Witnesses at the scene testified the incident.

Additionally, the accused himself admitted to his wrongdoing.

Therefore, he was sentenced to 7 days of imprisonment under Section 160 of the Penal Code for the offense described in Section 159.

The convicted jubo Dal leader has been sent to jail, added the Executive Magistrate.
