Yunus-Modi talks: Hasina’s repatriation, border issues raised
  04-04-2025

The bilateral meeting between Chief Adviser to the interim government, Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was described as highly constructive, effective, and fruitful, according to Shafiqul Alam, Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser.

During the discussion, the Chief Adviser raised several key issues, including the repatriation of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina—who was ousted amid a mass uprising—her provocative remarks from India, border killings, and the Ganges and Teesta water-sharing agreements.

The meeting took place on Friday (April 4) on the sidelines of the Sixth BIMSTEC Summit in Bangkok, Thailand.

This was the first official discussion between Yunus and Modi since the interim government assumed office.

Earlier on Thursday, the two leaders had briefly met during a dinner at the BIMSTEC Summit, where they exchanged pleasantries and were seen engaged in an extended conversation.
