The police have arrested 72 people from across the country in connection with the vandalism that took place during Monday`s protests calling for an end to the genocide in Gaza.
"Up to 8:00 am today, 72 individuals have been arrested in relation to attacks and vandalism targeting shops and businesses in various cities during protests against the Israeli massacre in Gaza," stated a release from the Police Headquarters.
The arrested individuals include 33 from Khulna, 19 from Sylhet, 5 from Chittagong, 4 from Gazipur, 4 from Narayanganj, 3 from Comilla, and 4 from Cox`s Bazar.
The Chief Adviser`s office issued a press statement, confirming the arrests and noting that at least 72 individuals have been arrested in connection with the vandalism and attacks on shops during protests on Monday.
Ten cases have been formally filed, it said.
"Further investigations are underway, and additional cases are in the process of being filed against those responsible for these reprehensible acts," the statement added.
