Bangladesh Women`s team were kept waiting to make an entry to World Cup after tasting a three-wicket defeat against West Indies in their fourth game of ICC World Cup Qualifiers at Lahore City Cricket Association Ground on Thursday.

A victory in this match would have confirmed their participation in World Cup with a game to spare but the defeat ruined that prospect.
Still, Bangladesh top the point table, edging Pakistan by better run rate.

Bangladesh now need a victory against Pakistan in their last match but in case of defeat, they still would have the chance to make it if West Indies or Scotland failed to maintain healthy run rate.

The middle order collapse basically dug Bangladesh`s graveyard in this match despite getting a good start from the top order.

After opting to bat first, Bangladesh were restricted to 227-9, following a middle order collapse that saw them losing six wickets for 49 runs.

Despite losing opener Shobhana Mostary cheaply, Bangladesh got flying start as Fargana Hoque Pinky and Sharmin Akhter Supta put on 118-run for the second wicket.

Aaliyah Alleyene broke the partnership by removing Pinky for 42 runs to spark the collapse as Bangladesh were reduced to 183-8 from 134-2 in just 16.3 overs.

During the collapse, they lost Supta who made highest individual of 67 runs and in-form skipper Nigar Sultana Joty.

After making three fifty plus scores including a century in the previous three matches, Joty this time added just 5 runs.

Aaliyah was the wrecker-in-chief with 4-29.

Later, Nahida Akter with 25 runs and Rabeya Khan with undefeated 23 runs helped the side propel pats 200-plus.

But that was not enough as West Indies overhauled the target in 46 overs with 228-7.

Chinelle Henry hit an unbeaten 51 runs to lead the charge while Stafanie Taylor and captain Hayley Matthews scored 36 and 33 runs respectively.

Bangladesh will take on Pakistan in their last match on Saturday.
