Online Report : At least three individuals including an elderly woman were injured and six houses were gutted in a fire that broke out in Chattogram`s Karnaphuli upazila early Friday.

The fire incident took place around 3:00 AM at Shah Ohidia Para in the upazila.

The victims were identified as Ibrahim, 51, Shafique, 47, and their mother, Laila Begum, 72.

According to locals, the fire originated from an electrical short circuit from the house of Hashem and escalated it to adjacent houses.

Being informed, two units of fire fighters rushed to the scene and brought the blaze under control after nearly two hours of efforts, said Karnaphuli Fire Service officer M Saiduzzaman.

The injured were currently undergoing treatment at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH), he added.
