On the day the Awami League government fell, 12 individuals — including former Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury and former State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak — hid in a room inside the National Parliament building from the morning of August 5 until 2:30 am. Later, they were rescued and escorted out by the army.

Palak revealed this information during a hearing at the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Wednesday (April 23).

During the hearing, he stated, “False allegations have been brought against me. I can be interrogated even at the jail gate. Let me be interrogated there.”

At the end of the hearing, the court granted a two-day remand for Palak in connection with a murder case filed at Vatara Police Station.

Palak was first arrested on August 15 last year. Since then, he has been interrogated multiple times in connection with charges of murder and attempted murder. On February 6 this year, he was officially shown arrested in this particular case.
