Rain has finally brought relief to residents of Dhaka, who had been suffering under intense heat. Although a heatwave has been sweeping across various regions of the country since April 22, Dhaka was not officially under a heatwave alert; however, the sweltering humidity made life uncomfortable for its inhabitants.

The sky remained overcast since Monday morning. By around noon, dark clouds gathered, and strong gusts of wind began blowing after 12:30 pm. Rain started in different parts of Dhaka shortly before 1:00 pm.

According to the Meteorological Department, the rainfall is expected to lower the temperature by about 2 degrees Celsius. There is also a forecast of rain across the country today. The department further mentioned that rainfall is likely to continue on Tuesday as well.
