International Desk : Days after expressing his desire to become the Pope, the religious leader of Roman Catholic Christians, the US President Donald Trump has shared an image of himself dressed in papal attire.
The US President posted the artificial intelligence (AI) generated image on his social media platform Truth Social on Friday (May 2nd), US local time.
According to a report by news outlet NDTV on Saturday, the viral image was later also shared on the White House`s X account.
In the image released depicting him as the Pope, Trump is seen sitting on a chair with a serious expression, wearing papal robes and raising the index finger of his right hand.
Trump`s image has sparked outrage among many on social media. Several users have accused Trump of mocking the death of Pope Francis.
Pope Francis passed away on April 21 at the age of 88. Following a funeral service in St. Peter`s Square on April 26, he was laid to rest in Rome`s Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore. Donald Trump also attended the Pope`s funeral.
Cardinals are convening in the Vatican to determine the 267th religious leader of the Catholic Church. According to a Reuters report, on April 29, Trump was asked who he would like to see as the next Pope. In response, Trump jokingly said, "I want to be the next Pope. That`s my number one choice now."
Immediately after the jest, the US President shared his opinion on who might actually assume the role. When asked who should succeed Pope Francis, Trump said, "I don`t have a preference. But I have to say, we have a cardinal who`s from a certain part of New York. He`s very good. Let`s see what happens."
