Online Report : Assistant teachers of government primary schools are going on a one-hour work abstension nationwide from Monday (May 5) demanding salary of 11th grade.

They have been protesting for the 10th grade for a long time. Now, they are saying that they should be paid at least in the 11th grade.

In addition, the complications of getting higher grades after completing 10 and 16 years in the job should be resolved and 100 per cent promotion to head teacher posts with expedited processes.

As the government failed to meet their demands by May 4 deadline, they announced the one hour strike from May 5 to 15, escalating to two-hour strikes from May 16 to 20 and half-day strikes from May 21 to 25.

Oikya Parishad leader Mohammad Shamsuddin Masud said that as their three-point demands were not met by this period, they will go for full day strike.

He added, "The government even did not sit with us which forced us to go on strike."
