  Italian Interior Minister to arrive in Dhaka on two-day visit

Italian Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi is arriving in Dhaka today (Monday, May 5th) for a two-day visit. He is expected to discuss issues related to illegal immigration and security. 

Sources at the Ministry of Home Affairs indicate that discussions during the Italian Interior Minister`s visit will focus on preventing illegal immigration and human trafficking. 

Cooperation in the security sector, training for the police and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), and mutual development issues between the two countries may also be on the agenda.

On the first day of his visit, a bilateral meeting is scheduled between the Home Affairs Advisors and the Interior Ministers of Bangladesh and Italy in the afternoon. 

Following the meeting, Matteo Piantedosi will pay a courtesy call on Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus. In the evening, the Italian Embassy in Dhaka will host a dinner in his honor.

On the second day of the visit, Tuesday (May 6th), the Italian Interior Minister will pay a courtesy call on the Advisor at the Probashi Kalyan Bhaban (Expatriate Welfare Building) in the morning. He will then pay a courtesy call on the Foreign Affairs Advisor at the State Guest House Padma. 

The Foreign Affairs Advisor will host a luncheon at the State Guest House Padma in honor of Matteo Piantedosi, which the Italian Interior Minister will attend. He is scheduled to leave Dhaka in the afternoon of the same day.
