  Gas Cylinder Explosion in Gazipur: All Burn Victims Die One by One

All five members of a family who suffered severe burns in a recent gas cylinder explosion in Joydebpur, Gazipur, have tragically died one after another.

The latest fatality was ten-year-old Tanjila, who passed away on Sunday night (May 4th) while receiving treatment in the High Dependency Unit (HDU) of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Shawn Bin Rahman, the resident surgeon at the institute, confirmed the news. He stated that Tanjila had suffered burns to 90 percent of her body. Earlier on the same day, another victim, Parvin Akter (35), succumbed to her injuries. She had sustained 32 percent burns.

The other victims included Sima Akter (30), Parvin Akter`s one-year-old son Ayan, and Tanjila`s mother Taslima Begum (30). All were reported to be members of the same family.

Sima Akter was the first among the burn victims to pass away on Monday morning (April 28th). She had suffered 90 percent burns. The following day, Tuesday (April 29th), Taslima Begum died; 95 percent of her body had been burnt. She was also five months pregnant. Subsequently, on Saturday (May 3rd), the one-year-old child, Ayan, also passed away.

The devastating cylinder explosion occurred around 7:00 PM on April 26th in the Mogolkhali area of Joydebpur. Following the incident, the five members of the same family were rescued and admitted to the National Burn Institute at approximately 10:45 PM that night.
