China has expressed deep concern and disappointment over India’s reported missile strikes in Pakistan, calling on both nuclear-armed neighbors to remain calm and avoid escalating tensions.
As a neighbor to both India and Pakistan, China maintains particularly close ties with Islamabad. Responding to India’s military action inside Pakistan, a spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, “We are seriously concerned about the ongoing situation.”
The spokesperson emphasized that India and Pakistan are inseparable neighbors and both are China`s neighbors as well. "China firmly opposes all forms of terrorism," the official added.
China urged both sides to prioritize peace and regional stability and to avoid any actions that could further complicate the situation. “We hope both countries exercise maximum restraint,” the spokesperson said.
So far, eight people have reportedly been killed and at least 35 injured in India’s strikes on Pakistani territory. In retaliation, a Pakistani attack in Indian-administered Kashmir has reportedly killed three people.
