One of the busiest Dhaka street Gulistan has been blocked by the supporters of BNP leader Ishraque Hossain, halting the vehicle movement there.

As the protesters continued their pre-announced `Nagar Bhaban Blockade` on Monday demanding Ishraque`s swift swearing-in as the mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).

The protest has paralysed the DSCC activities.

The vehicle movement towards Bangshal and Paltan has also came to a standstill.

Megaphones have been set up from the Nagar Bhaban to the Zero Point area and are repeating slogans. Small processions are being conducted.

The protesters are chanting slogans in support of Ishraque Hossain and in opposition to Local Government Advisor Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain.

Effigies of the advisor could also be seen among the crowd.
