  Turin Afroz shown arrested in another murder case

Barrister Turin Afroz, former prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal, has been shown arrested in a separate murder case involving the death of a 12-year-old boy during a political protest.

On Wednesday (June 18), Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate M Mizbah Ur Rahman granted a police petition to show her arrested in the case.

According to the case statement, victim Arafat Hossain, a fifth-grade student at Jamia Rawzatul Ulum Madrasa in Uttara, was shot during an anti-discrimination protest demanding the government`s resignation on August 5 last year. He later died on December 22 while undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital.

The case was filed by the victim’s elder brother Hasan Ali with Uttara West Police Station.

Turin Afroz was initially arrested on April 7 from her residence in Uttara in connection with an attempted murder case. She was later remanded for four days and has since remained in jail custody.
