Police recovered a floating body of a missing man at Morrelganj upazila in Bagerhat district on Friday morning.

The deceased was identified as Jakir Khan, 50, a resident of Kolaron village under Indurkani upazila in Pirojpur district. Jakir was now residing at a house in Morrelganj municipality and was a van driver by profession. He had been missing since Wednesday.

According to locals, they discovered a body floating on the water near Sukumar Ghat in Morrelganj canal and informed police.

Being informed by the locals, police reached the spot and recovered the body.

Morrelganj Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Md Motlubur Rahman confirmed the incident and said that the body will be handed over to the deceased’s family after legal procedures.
