Water levels rise in 54 Rivers, fall in 58 : FFWC
  29-06-2025

Online Report : Water levels in 54 rivers across Bangladesh have increased while 58 rivers have seen a decline, according to the latest update from the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC).

Of the 119 monitoring stations across the country, water levels at seven locations remained unchanged. The FFWC bulletin confirmed that none of the rivers are currently flowing above the danger level, with all major rivers staying well below critical thresholds.

The Surma and Kushiyara rivers are witnessing a gradual decrease in water levels, a trend expected to continue for the next two days before stabilising. Moderate to moderately heavy rainfall is forecast in these basins over the next three days, which could influence future levels.

Meanwhile, the Brahmaputra River’s water level continues to fall, and the Jamuna River remains steady. The FFWC anticipates that over the next two days, water levels in the Brahmaputra-Jamuna system may rise slightly, before stabilising over the following three days—still remaining below the danger mark.

The Ganges and Padma rivers are on a rising trend, which is projected to persist for the next five days. Despite this, both rivers are expected to flow safely below the danger level.

In the Chattogram region, the Muhuri River is showing a rise, while levels in the Feni, Halda, and Matamuhuri rivers are stable, and the Gomti and Sangu rivers are experiencing a drop. All rivers in this zone are also below danger levels. Looking ahead, the FFWC expects water levels in the Sangu, Halda, and Matamuhuri rivers to rise over the next three days, while the Muhuri, Gomti, and Feni rivers may remain stable for the next day before beginning to recede over the subsequent two days.

Moderately heavy to heavy rainfall is forecast in these river basins over the coming three days, which could affect these patterns further.
