Manikganj Detective Branch (DB) police have arrested former member of parliament from Manikganj-1 constituency and former captain of the Bangladesh national cricket team, Naimur Rahman Durjoy. He was arrested from Lalmatia in the capital on Wednesday (July 2).

It is learned that Durjoy was staying at a house in Lalmatia at the time of his arrest. He has multiple cases against him, including murder.

Naimur Rahman Durjoy was elected as a Member of Parliament from Manikganj-1 constituency as an Awami League candidate in the 2001 national parliamentary election. Later, he was elected as an MP from the same constituency in 2014 and 2018 on the Awami League`s nomination.
