Hasnat Abdullah, chief organizer of the Jatiyo Nagorik Party (NCP) for the southern region, has said that the party must shoulder the responsibility for all failures and shortcomings of the interim government.
He made the remarks on Saturday during the third dialogue session on youth and statecraft, organized by Arpan Alok Sangha at IDB Bhaban in Kakrail, Dhaka.
He said, “Although the government was formed with everyone’s advice, the accountability rests with the NCP.”
Hasnat further stated, “Our position against fascists has always been clear. Yet, full support from other anti-fascist political parties was lacking, and in many instances, we had to fight alone.”
Warning the media, he said, “The media must play a constructive role; otherwise, the country could fall under the shadow of unseen forces.”
He also criticized the commercialization of politics, noting, “When business interests dominate, attacks on opposition politicians are often legitimized.Still, NCP has succeeded in changing political culture, which is a major achievement for the country.”
