  22-11-2025

Dhaka experienced two consecutive earthquakes on Saturday evening, both originating from the capital’s Badda area, according to Bangladesh Meteorological Department.

Tariful Newaz Kabir, a meteorologist at the department, said the first tremor struck at 6:06:04 PM with a magnitude of 3.7 on the Richter scale.

Just one second later, at 6:06:05 PM, a second quake measuring 4.3 hit the city.

Both quakes had their epicentre in Badda.

Earlier in the morning, a mild earthquake was recorded in Narsingdi. The tremor was felt in Palash upazila at 10:36:12 AM, with a magnitude of 3.3.

This series of quakes comes a day after a stronger quake shook Dhaka and nearby districts on Friday morning at 10:38 AM, which was felt across the country. At least 10 people, including children, were killed and more than 600 injured in Friday’s quake.

Most of the casualties occurred in Narsingdi, where five people died, while four deaths were reported in Dhaka and one in Narayanganj. Many of the injuries occurred as people jumped from buildings in panic, and several structures tilted or developed cracks.
