| At least two people were killed and two others injured when a Meherpur-bound passenger bus plowed into a battery-run-auto-rickshaw at Alokdia Bazar of sadar upazila in Chuadanga on Sunday afternoon.
The incident occurred around 1:00 PM near Alokdia market area in the upazila.
where the speeding bus reportedly struck the rear of the Pakhivan as it was heading toward Alokdia from Chuadanga town.
The deceased were identified as Parveena Khatun, 45, wife of the late Raju Ahmed, a local trader of Monirampur village and Ramjan, 28, son of Abdur Rahman, a resident of the same village.
Quoting local people, Chuadanga police station officer-in-charge Khaledur Rahman said that a Meherpur bound bus hit the auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction, leaving Parveena dead on the spot and three others injured on the spot.
Locals rescued the injured and took them to Chuadanga General Hospital for treatment where the attending doctors referred Ramjan the injured to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
On information, a team of police recovered the bodies and sent them to Chuadanga General Hospital morgue for post-mortem examinations.
Police were looking into the matter, the OC added.
