  28-11-2025

Kamrul Hasan : Against the backdrop of the upcoming national elections, the BNP’s 31-point state reform proposal has sparked extensive discussion in the political arena regarding the restoration of democracy, rebuilding of state institutions, and the overall political landscape. At such a crucial moment, BNP Chairperson’s Advisory Council member, District BNP Convener, and BNP’s nominated candidate for Manikganj-3 constituency, Afroza Khanam Rita, emphasized the importance of ensuring the victory of the Sheaf of Paddy symbol in Manikganj.

Speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of the centenary celebration of the historic Manikganj Model High School, located in South Sewta, on Friday morning (28 November), she said,
“Begum Khaleda Zia’s struggle for independence, the constitution, and democracy, and Tarique Rahman’s leadership in resolving the country’s crises are today appreciated internationally. To transform Manikganj into a modern and prosperous district, there is no alternative to voting for the Sheaf of Paddy in the upcoming election.”

The event was presided over by the school’s headmaster, Mohammad Jalal Ahmed. Among those present were District BNP Convening Committee members and former students of the school—Advocate A.F.M. Noortaj Alam Bahar PP, Nasir Uddin Ahmed Jadu, Golam Kibria Said, Celebration Committee Member-Secretary Golam Abedin Kaiser, members Ziauddin Ahmed Kabir, Advocate Jinnah Khan, Abdul Khalek Shuvo, Sirajur Rahman Khan Sojib, along with teachers, former and current students, and leaders of BNP and its affiliated organizations.

Rita said, “The national election is approaching. To steer the country in the right direction, people must make the right choice at the ballot box. Those who reject conspiracy, propaganda, and division must be brought to victory. The Sheaf of Paddy is the symbol of independence and development.”

She further added that BNP is a popular political party, and out of jealousy toward this popularity, certain quarters are engaged in various conspiracies—actions she described as harmful to the nation. She called for a united stand against these ill-intentioned groups.

Describing Manikganj as one of BNP’s strongest political bases, Rita said,
“To ensure victory for the Sheaf of Paddy in every constituency of the district, everyone must work together, rising above internal differences.”

She urged all to dedicate themselves to the welfare of the nation by working to fulfill the dreams of martyred President Ziaur Rahman and implement the 31-point state reform program announced by Tarique Rahman. She also sought prayers for the good health of Begum Khaleda Zia and the long life of Tarique Rahman.

Established in 1925, the Manikganj Model High School campus transformed into a festive ground as thousands of former and current students gathered to celebrate its century-long legacy. From early morning, participants from various areas flocked to the event.

The reunion began at 7:30 am, followed by a rendition of the national anthem and the official inauguration of the centenary celebration by chief guest Afroza Khanam Rita.

A colorful rally later paraded through the main streets of the town, after which former students and teachers recalled cherished memories. The campus turned into a joyous reunion venue filled with the excitement of reconnecting with old friends.

In the afternoon, local artists brought the campus alive with traditional cultural performances. At night, popular band artist James electrified the entire environment, making the celebration even more memorable.

Organizers noted that the centenary celebration of Manikganj Model High School is not just a festival—it is a rare opportunity to honor the institution’s century-long contribution to education, values, culture, and social development. The event was organized to inspire the new generation to move forward with renewed motivation.
