  IU registrar gets show-cause notice
  10-12-2020

IU Correspondent: The authorities of Islamic University in Kushtia served a show-cause notice on it’s acting registrar SM Abdul Latif over submitting an error proof copy of academic calendar to its vice-chancellor Professor Shaikh Abdus Salam.

A show-cause notice, signed by IU VC`s personal secretary Ayub Ali, was issued to the registrar in this regard on Thursday.

A proof copy, however, was sent to the vice-chancellor through acting registrar SM Abdul Latif as IU information, publication and public relations office acting director M Ataul Haque, also the member secretary of the calendar committee, became sick.

IU VC found error in the name of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall and the name of Deshratna Sheikh Hasina Hall there. The word `H` has been omitted in both name of Sheikh.

Later, a show-cause notice was served to acting registrar for this mistake.

Due to my illness, I sent two colored printed proof copies of the calendar to vice-chancellor through the registrar, Ataul Haque said.

Acting registrar SM Abdul Latif said, `Ataul Haque, acting director of public relations office, asked me to show the drafts of academic calendar to the vice-chancellor as he was ill.`

When I went to show it to the VC, he threw away the calendar because the names of Bangabandhu and Sheikh Hasina are misspelled.

I have nothing to do with making a draft copy of the calendar.  But why was I sent a show cause notice.  I didn`t understand, he added.

Talking to New Age, IU VC said that the registrar did not inform me whether it was a draft copy or a final copy.  I served a show-cause notice to him as there was a mistake in the names of Bangabandhu and Sheikh Hasina.
