Secondary school teachers will face music if they stop taking exams: Abrar
  1, December, 2025, 10:54:5:PM

Education Adviser Prof. Dr. Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar has warned that secondary school teachers in different parts of the country, who have decided to stop taking examinations of students, will face punishment for violating the rules of government employees.

He made the warning in an exclusive interview with Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) on Monday.

“What secondary school teachers are doing in the name of the movement is a violation of the government code of conduct. You have to be ready to face punishment for violating the government code of conduct. Here the government has made its position clearly.” said the education adviser.

He said many schools do not follow the position taken by secondary school teachers regarding the annual examinations as the examinations were held in many places.

The adviser said it is unfair and unjust that they want to come to the ninth grade. “Because when they took the job, they knew that they would be in the tenth grade. From there, this demand for the ninth grade was not in their job conditions at all. So this is an unfair and unfair demand,” he added.

Abrar said secondly, in the ninth grade, it is the admin cadre who also enter here in the BCS, so this is not a matter to be resolved with them alone.

He said there is a comparative issue here in going to the ninth grade and what is happening is that they raised this demand a couple of days ago at a time when the examinations of the school students are going on.

In some places, the annual exams started and basically, the tool they are using is that they are using the students as weapons, which is an extremely immoral thing that they are doing as teachers, he observed.

The education adviser said: “So we refuse and we tell them that you should take the examinations … otherwise, of course, you are a government employee here and if you violate the rules, then there are some punishments for violating the rules of government employees; but you have to remain ready for it.”

“The government is making its position very firmly that it will not compromise. “You have to take the examinations so that the pressure on the children and the parents is reduced.”

Abrar said this evening, they spoke to all the district administrations, while they all said that the students are interested in taking part in the exemptions and some of them have given the examinations.

“I will say, the teachers will take the exams of their school tomorrow. Otherwise, they will face punishment,” he said.
