Security has been heightened in front of Evercare Hospital in Bashundhara, where BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia is undergoing treatment.

Police installed a barricade at the hospital`s main gate from 2AM on Tuesday and more than two dozen officers were deployed to manage crowds and ensure her safety.

Surrounding cabins on her fourth-floor unit have been vacated for security reasons.

The hospital sources said police personnel have been deployed to ensure smooth movement of patients and their family members, prevent crowding around the hospital and strengthen Khaleda Zia`s security
