  Man held with 1,600 Yaba pills in Sherpur

Narcotics Control Department (NCD) arrested a suspected drug peddler along with 1,600 pieces of Yaba pills from Sherpur upazila of Bogura district on Tuesday afternoon.

The arrested is identified as Md Abdur Rashid, 34, a resident of Jhaubari village under Roumari upazila in Kurigram district.

According to sources, a team of NDC officials conducted a drive in Dubarchar area and arrested Rashid along with 1600 pieces of Yaba pills.


Law enforcement officials also seized 37 grams of powder used in the production of Yaba pills and a motorcycle allegedly used for drug trafficking from his possession.

Mymensingh Divisional Narcotics Control Department Assistant Director Md Kawsarul Hasan Roni said that a case has been filed against the accused with Sherpur Sadar Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act.

He added that such anti-narcotics operations would continue in the future.

Confirming the incident, Sherpur Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Md Sohel Rana said that the arrested individual has been sent to jail after being produced before the court.
