| International: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Jonathan Powell, National Security Adviser to the UK Prime Minister, on the evening of Wednesday, January 28, in Beijing.
During the meeting, Wang Yi said that in the face of an increasingly complex and volatile international situation, China and the United Kingdom—as permanent members of the United Nations Security Council—should uphold the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, strengthen dialogue and cooperation, and work together to address global challenges.
He noted that the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries on developing a long-term, comprehensive strategic partnership would inject strong momentum into exchanges and cooperation across various fields, and open a new chapter in China-UK relations.
Jonathan Powell said the United Kingdom hopes to seize the opportunity presented by Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s visit to China to further develop a more coordinated and comprehensive strategic partnership with China.
