  02-02-2026

(BSS) – BNP-nominated parliamentary candidate for the Rajshahi-2 (Sadar) constituency in the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election, Mizanur Rahman Minu, today said he hopes for a peaceful, and fair election, where voters can exercise their rights in a proper environment.

“We, who are contesting the election, are all like brothers. There are no allegations against anyone. We expect everyone to campaign peacefully for their respective symbols in a spirit of coexistence. If the election is fair and peaceful, the Sheaf of Paddy symbol will win by a huge margin,” he said.

Minu made these remarks shortly before beginning door-to-door campaigning from 11:00 a.m. until noon in various neighborhoods of Ward No. 4. Later, starting from Bheripara intersection, he carried out door-to-door campaigning in favor of the Sheaf of Paddy symbol, accompanied by party leaders and activists.

He also campaigned in other areas, including around the Police Lines. The program became lively with the spontaneous participation of local residents, party leaders, and activists. The area echoed with slogans supporting the Sheaf of Paddy symbol.

During the campaign, Minu exchanged greetings with voters on various roads and in neighborhoods, seeking their votes and prayers for a landslide victory. After completing activities in Ward No. 4, he moved on to Ward No. 5 with party leaders and activists.

He distributed leaflets to local voters and passersby, urging them to vote for the Sheaf of Paddy symbol. Party leaders and activists chanted slogans and actively campaigned in support of Minu and the symbol, calling on voters to ensure his success in the upcoming national parliamentary election.

In addition to Minu, leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliated organizations conducted door-to-door campaigning and promotional activities across the city in support of the Sheaf of Paddy symbol.

Meanwhile, Dr Mohammad Jahangir, the scale-symbol candidate of the 11-party alliance for the Rajshahi-2 constituency, inaugurated a special campaign vehicle supporting the ‘Yes’ vote. The inauguration took place today at Batar Mor amid a colorful event, adding a new dimension to the election campaign in Rajshahi. The vehicle will work to build public awareness in favor of the ‘Yes’ vote.

Speaking as the chief guest, Dr Jahangir said the ‘Yes’ vote represents a struggle to free Bangladesh from domination and authoritarianism. “We want a system of governance where power is not concentrated in the hands of a single individual, and where the safety and rights of the people are ensured,” he said.

Highlighting the current political situation, he stated that prolonged one-party dominance has allowed killings, enforced disappearances, and repression to continue unchecked. To overcome this, he emphasized the need to establish a balanced state governance structure.

Stressing the importance of power balance among key state institutions, Dr Jahangir said they aim for a system where constitutional equilibrium exists between the Prime Minister and the President. Referring to humanity in legal and judicial processes, he added that decisions to pardon convicted criminals should not be based solely on political considerations, and the opinions of victims’ families must be prioritized, as the right to true justice belongs to them.

Calling the introduction of a “vote vehicle” in Rajshahi—a practice modeled on developed countries—a positive step, he said the mobile campaign would increase public awareness of the importance of the ‘Yes’ vote. He urged party leaders and activists to expand the campaign across neighborhoods and communities.
