  Xi Jinping Expresses Condolences over Landslide Deaths in Nepal

International: Chinese President Xi Jinping has sent a message of condolence to Nepalese President Ram Chandra Paudel following the heavy loss of life and extensive property damage caused by a recent landslide in Nepal.

In his message, Xi said a devastating landslide recently occurred at the Jilong-Rasuwa border crossing between China and Nepal, resulting in numerous casualties, several people missing and significant property damage.

“On behalf of the Chinese government and people, I express my deep condolences to those who lost their lives and extend my sincere sympathy to their families, the injured and people in the disaster-affected areas,” Xi said.

Xi stressed that China is making every effort to search for missing people, relocate and resettle affected residents, provide timely medical treatment to the injured, reduce casualties and prevent secondary disasters.

He said China is willing to actively assist Nepal’s rescue efforts and provide support and assistance to the best of its ability.

Xi expressed confidence that the people of both countries would overcome the disaster and rebuild their homes as soon as possible.On the same day, Chinese Premier Li Qiang also sent a message of condolence to Nepalese Prime Minister Balendra Shah.
