Special Correspondent: Bangladesh and Pakistan have agreed to strengthen cooperation in the knitwear sector through joint business activities and closer supply chain integration, as the two countries seek to expand bilateral trade and commercial relations.

The understanding was reached at a meeting between Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) President Mohammad Hatem and Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh Imran Haider at the BKMEA office in Dhaka on Sunday.
Several BKMEA directors attended the meeting, which focused on implementing activities under a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the BKMEA and Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PHMA).
The discussions also covered plans to organise joint business-to-business (B2B) meetings to facilitate direct engagement between companies from the two countries.
During the meeting, Hatem invited Pakistani companies to participate in the Bangladesh International Textile, Knitting and Garment Industry Exhibition, scheduled to be held in Dhaka in January 2027.
The invitation is aimed at creating further opportunities for business partnerships and strengthening supply chain synergies between Bangladesh and Pakistan’s textile and garment industries.
High Commissioner Imran Haider assured the BKMEA president of Pakistan’s full possible cooperation in promoting bilateral trade and commercial collaboration.
The meeting reflects ongoing efforts by business organisations and diplomatic representatives to develop trade links between the two countries through private-sector engagement, industry cooperation and participation in international trade events.
Both sides are expected to explore opportunities for greater business connectivity and collaboration in the knitwear and related textile sectors under the existing MoU.
