  04-10-2026

INTERNATIONAL, October 4: Chinese President Xi Jinping’s recent visit to the United States has marked a new milestone in relations between the two countries, Chinese Ambassador to the US Xie Feng has said.

In an interview with Newsweek, Xie said that Xi’s first state visit to the United States in 11 years, along with reciprocal visits by the presidents of both countries, had created an opportunity to further stabilize and improve China-US relations.

Ambassador Xie Feng said the two countries agreed during the visit to build a strategically stable and constructive relationship based on mutual respect, fairness and mutual benefit.

He noted that the key outcomes of the visit included opening a new chapter in head-of-state diplomacy, providing fresh direction for bilateral relations and creating new opportunities for mutual cooperation.

Meanwhile, the two countries have decided to expand cooperation in artificial intelligence (AI). To this end, both sides have agreed to launch a China-US AI dialogue. The next meeting is scheduled to take place in November 2026 to discuss the risks and potential of AI.

The Chinese ambassador said that AI could become a new area of cooperation rather than a new source of confrontation between China and the United States.

It is worth noting that Xi Jinping visited the United States from September 23 to 25. Earlier, US President Donald Trump visited Beijing, China, in May.
